Title: En Biopolitisk Undersøgelse af Finansiel Afrealisering
Author: Hansen, Mek
Abstract: The Danish real estate market has detached itself from reality once again. History has taught us that a housing boom precedes a financial crisis, so why is it happening again? Foucault teaches us that in biopolitics, the sovereign power has a rational for implement-ing power technologies to organize and control its subjects. This paper sets out to examine the biopolitical rationale implied by financial derealization. In order to achieve this, it is necessary to conceptualize financial derealization and investigate how it functions by ap-plying it to the real estate market. The paper concludes that financial derealization is a systemic error rather than a biopolitical power technique. It is a concept that has risen through massive layers of semiotics, a hyper-complex flow of information and an ex-tremely competitive situation on the financial markets. The disproportionate extrapola-tion of these components has led to a household debt of astronomical heights. The enor-mous debt in society has major consequences for the macroeconomy and for the individ-ual citizen. It is in everyone’s interest to reduce financial realization as much as possible
